Lab orders and results, closed loop
A lab order is only finished when someone has looked at the result. We are building Lab Testing to hold that whole arc in the chart: order during the visit, result back to the provider who asked for it, and anything still outstanding visible until it is not. It is not released yet, and the waitlist is how you hear first.
What we are building
The shape of the module
Ordered at the point of care
Pick the panel during the visit, with the patient, the provider, and the reason already filled in from the chart.
Results routed to the orderer
Every result lands with the provider who ordered it and on the patient record, so a normal and an abnormal both get seen.
The loop actually closes
Outstanding orders stay visible until a result comes back, so a specimen that never got run does not quietly become nothing.
